7 Science-Backed Tips to Sleep Better

Keep a consistent schedule. Going to bed and waking at the same time every day — including weekends — is the single most impactful habit for sleep quality. It anchors your circadian rhythm.

Keep your room cool and dark. Core body temperature needs to drop 1–3°F to initiate sleep. A cool room (around 18°C/65°F) and complete darkness accelerate this process significantly.

Cut screens 30–60 minutes before bed. Blue light from phones and TVs suppresses melatonin production. If you must use screens, enable night mode or wear blue-light blocking glasses.

Avoid caffeine after 2pm. Caffeine has a half-life of 5–7 hours. A coffee at 4pm still has significant stimulant activity in your system at 10pm, disrupting sleep onset and deep sleep quality.
